Lego party

This post is just for the folks at minifigfun.wordpress.com, who just published an awesome post about lego party games that I am definitely going to steal for the next birthday party!

Here are some pictures of the King’s 5th birthday (nearly a year ago) – it was a complete lego-fest!

Kick it to me!

Today was the lego king’s first foray into competitive sports – the cutthroat world of under 6’s football.  Football at this age resembles a swarm of very small bees running randomly around a ball. The  position of goalie doesn’t even enter the picture for at least another 2 years.

Today was “grading” (which means if your mum writes a nice email requesting that you get put in a team with your mates it happens). In a few weeks the coaching and games begin.

All this means I am now officially a ‘soccer mum’.

Rock the block!

Some of the little kindy kids are already learning musical instruments, including the cello, ffs! I am trying to encourage the lego king that he might like to try the piano or guitar one day, but what does he want to learn? You guessed it . . . . .

Rain and space lego

It’s a rainy Sunday, and the second last day of holidays for my husband before he goes back to work after a month off 😦

So we are off to my brother in law’s place to play space lego. My husband and his brother had heaps of space lego when they were kids, and when they were 18 they divvied it up between them and stored away for future use. Well, it’s officially the future. Last time we were there we spread my BIL’s half over their dining room table and set to work. We came home and spread my husband’s half over our dining table too. Only trouble is, in their infinite wisdom the brothers did not divide up the instruction books at the time so there have been a lot of false starts attempting to construct models for which the pieces do not exist.

So today we come armed with a list of missing pieces to swap so when we get home we can finish the building and I might be able to have my dining table back….
